We often talk about our physical health without hesitation. If we have a fever, we rest. If we break a leg, we go to the doctor. But when our mind feels heavy, or when anxiety grips us, why do we hide it?

In our society, mental health is often misunderstood. Terms like “weakness” or “drama” are thrown around, or worse, it is ignored completely. At Kalpabrikshya, we believe that mental health is health—period.

Why We Need to Talk About It

Bottling up emotions doesn’t make them go away; it makes them heavier. In Nepal, many young people suffer in silence because they fear judgment. They fear being labeled. But the reality is, anxiety and depression are as real as any physical illness.

Signs You or a Friend Might Need Support:

  • Withdrawal: Pulling away from friends and family.
  • Sleep Changes: Sleeping too much or not at all.
  • Loss of Interest: No longer enjoying hobbies or passions.
  • Irritability: Getting angry or frustrated easily.

What Can We Do?

Change starts with a simple question: “How are you, really?” We need to create safe spaces—in our homes, schools, and communities—where saying “I am struggling” is met with a hug, not a lecture.

Remember, asking for help isn’t a sign of weakness. It is the bravest thing you can do. Let’s grow a community where minds are nurtured just as carefully as bodies.
